Early years as Mzizima FC
Azam FC started as Mzizima FC on 23 July 2004, founded by workers of the Mzizima wheat flour milling industry owned by Said Salim Bakhresa Group of Companies at Banda la Ngozi, Nyerere Road, Ilala, Dar es Salaam.

Azam FC started as Mzizima FC on 23 July 2004, founded by workers of the Mzizima wheat flour milling industry owned by Said Salim Bakhresa Group of Companies at Banda la Ngozi, Nyerere Road, Ilala, Dar es Salaam.
The team evolved from a recreation and leisure football group into a more structured football project, becoming Azam Sports Club and setting the foundation for professional growth.
The club adopted the name Azam Football Club, strengthening its identity and beginning the journey towards becoming one of Tanzania’s most respected football institutions.
Azam FC moved to Azam Complex Chamazi, giving the club a permanent home and a modern football environment for players, staff and supporters.
Azam FC won the league unbeaten, becoming only the second club in Tanzanian football history to complete a league season without losing a match.
The club became the first Tanzanian club to win the Kagame Cup without conceding a goal, adding another milestone to its growing legacy.
